History

Midnight Sun was founded in the Northwest Territories in 1993, as a specialized remote power company. We began engineering and building our own generators to meet extreme northern conditions at off-grid bush and tundra sites. We augmented these popular camp gensets with custom solar and wind power systems for exploration camps, mines, lodges and other remote sites.

Successful business operation in the North is not for the faint of heart and we know what it takes to thrive. In the resource-driven economy of Canada’s North, the names of the precious metals may change, but most of the challenges of operating in this unique environment remain the same.

As the mining and exploration landscape has evolved, so has Midnight Sun’s array of products and services, along with our technical team’s expertise.

Today

We continue to dig deep for you and build on the strong relationships we have forged in the North and around the world. Midnight Sun provides essentially “one-stop shopping” for northern mines, exploration camps, municipalities, construction companies and other industries. Bringing premier industrial products and equipment brands to our two Yellowknife locations has been key in helping our customers to be successful and minimize downtime.

Our newly renovated and expanded service shop provides custom vocational truck fabrication for the Midnight Sun Peterbilt dealership, as well as expert service and repairs on everything from submersible pumps and generators, to loaders and heavy trucks.

Through strategic development and innovation in response to market demands, we have become exceptionally well-equipped to meet the comprehensive sales, service and rental needs of northern industry.
